John of Dara, Commentary on the Eucharist (English edition, 1999)

The ninth-century Eucharistic commentary of John of Dara. It examines the symbolism of the church, vessels, vestments, and rites, with particular attention to the preparation before the Eucharistic prayer. Its separate treatments of the purificator and sponge distinguish two objects that later terminology can conflate.
